Strengthen the Church and United Church Homes are our Missions for the month of May.
 
This year’s theme for the Strengthen the Church (STC) Offering is “Sent Forth in Love.” As members we have a shared commitment to cooperatively build up the UCC. Conferences and the national setting equally share the gifts given by members and friends through their local congregations. The funds raised support leadership development, new churches, youth ministry, and innovation in existing congregations. We are working together to build the church to come, preserving our future. By your generosity to this offering, you build up the Body of Christ. As God calls our congregations to be the church in new ways, your generosity will plant new churches, awaken new ideas in existing churches and develop the spiritual life in our youth and young adults.
 
Our 2nd Mission is United Church Homes, UCH began its mission at a time of ethnic discrimination, poverty, and pandemic. Over the years, people and situations have changed, but the mission has remained the same: to provide quality and affordable housing and healthcare options for older adults. Today, United Church Homes is a leading provider of healthcare and senior living services with a mission to transform aging by building a culture of community, wholeness, and peace for those they serve. In Dayton, UCH is currently fundraising for construction of the Longfellow Commons Community, which will convert a historical school and the rest of a city block into a place for members of the LGBTQ community and allies to call home and a safe place for them to belong in the community of others. Brimming with amenities like a theater, bodega, lounge, speakeasy, inspiration studio and fitness room, the community won’t be shy about its abundance of life lived here.
