The March Mission is One Great Hour of SharingWe join with Christians in nine other denominations to support relief services wherever and whenever disaster strikes in the U.S.A. and abroad, and also to provide long-term development and assistance, refugee resettlement, and social service. Relief services following the Haiti earthquake are a primary focus at this time. Please support this vital mission. For more information on One Great Hour of Sharing, see the A.I.M. bulletin board in March.
Sign up to Help Serve the Hungry at the Washington UCC Street FeastSaturday, March 20, Leave the church at 8:30 a.m.
Join us for this very worthwhile mission! We will need a group of 12 to 15 people to help prepare a very large lunch at Washington UCC, then we'll take this lunch downtown to the Drop-Inn Center, where we will serve it to people at the shelter and from the surrounding neighborhood. This is called a "Street Feast", and it is one of the many ways that Washington Church serves the community. People from this church will assist us in preparing the food and running the event. We will be at the Drop-Inn Center by about 11:15. After lunch (at about 1:15 p.m.), we will return to the church for cleanup and a follow up conversation about our day of service and be done by about 2:45 p.m. This is a great way for youth to gain community service hours. Sign up in the narthex or email Ellen Abel if you have questions.
